The brief
LabSTEM helps teachers bring science, technology, engineering and maths into real teaching. The method worked. What was missing was a way to show another teacher what it looks like in practice.
OUR CONTRIBUTION
Concept and production of three films across a primary school, a vocational college and a forest classroom. Researchers explain the method, teachers explain the doubt, the children do the rest.
Every engineer was once a child who found one subject less boring than the others. That is not a small mechanism. It is where the pipeline actually begins.
LabSTEM, run by FNUG at the University of Southern Denmark, helps teachers bring science, technology, engineering and maths into real teaching. The project had the results. What it did not have was a way to show another teacher what it looks like in a room.
We made three films in three very different settings: LEGO robotics in maths at a school in Nyborg, maths attached to the practical trades at a vocational college in Svendborg, and chemistry and biology taught outdoors in Svanninge Bjerge with a class from Faaborg.
